Founder

Robin Murdoch, founder of Caledonian Insurance Broker, arrived in South Africa from Scotland at just 21 years old, chasing the kind of adventure that pulls you far beyond familiar shores. What began as a bold leap into a new country soon became the foundation of a business built on grit, relationships, and understanding the realities of South African industries.

Established in 2004, Robin decided to branch out and build his own business, driven by the belief that true service and accountability could only come from taking full responsibility for his clients and their needs. His time, relationships, and commitment to delivering the right protection mattered deeply, and he knew that level of care could never come from a one size fits all approach.

Caledonian was built on the belief that insurance should feel personal, considered, and tailored to the people behind the business. Through a hands on approach and carefully structured short term insurance solutions, Robin and his team help clients protect the assets that matter most.

From trucking and agriculture to forestry and warehousing, Caledonian understands that every business faces its own unique challenges. Rooted in Scottish resilience and shaped by decades in South Africa, Robin Murdoch has created a brokerage that continues to help businesses face the future with confidence.

Director

Anthony is a Shareholder and Director of Caledonian Insurance Brokers, bringing 20 years of experience in the insurance industry to the team. With a strong understanding of the ever changing risk landscape, he also leads another company within the HW Group, creating valuable synergies and opportunities across the wider group.

Anthony is passionate about Caledonian’s continued growth and, together with the exceptional team behind the business, is committed to maintaining the high level of service our clients have come to expect while helping guide Caledonian into its next chapter.

Outside of work, Ant is happiest outdoors, whether in the bush, on the beach, fishing, mountain biking, walking or hiking, and occasionally tackling a trail run when the energy levels allow! He also loves a good braai and spending time with family and friends.

Ant is married to Niki and they have two children, Chloe and Oliver. Both Ant and Niki share a special connection to the KZN Midlands, where Niki grew up on a farm outside Nottingham Road and Ant spent his school years and part of his university days.

Sherika leads the Caledonian Team with steady confidence and a natural “solution to every problem” approach. With 12 years in the insurance industry, 10 of those with Caledonian, she brings a wealth of experience, calm leadership and genuine dedication to both our team and our clients.

Her approachable nature and problem solving mindset make her someone both colleagues and clients can rely on. Whatever the challenge, Sherika has a remarkable ability to find a way forward while keeping everyone on track.

Outside of the office, Sherika’s greatest joy is her young family. She is a devoted wife and mum to two beautiful sons and loves making memories with them, from the simple everyday moments to family adventures together.

Sharon is a cornerstone of Caledonian, having been an integral part of the team for an incredible 20 years. Her strong underwriting and administrative skills, together with the trusted relationships she has built with clients over the years, make her an invaluable member of the team.

Known for her witty sense of humour and signature attitude, Sharon certainly keeps us all on our toes and brings plenty of personality to the office!

Outside of work, Sharon is a proud mum to two beautiful daughters and enjoys spending quality time relaxing with her family.

Urika leads our Underwriting Team, bringing with her a wealth of product knowledge gained over nine years in the insurance industry. Her strong attention to detail, firm adherence to industry standards and warm, welcoming nature give clients confidence and reassurance in what can sometimes feel like a daunting industry.

She has achieved numerous accolades through her studies with the IIE and continues to make the Caledonian Team proud with her commitment and expertise.

Outside of work, Urika enjoys married life and loves sharing adventures, travels and new experiences with her husband.

Vera is a dynamic member of our Claims Team, approaching every challenge with an enquiring mind and a positive, go getter attitude. With three years in the insurance industry, she has found her stride in the fast paced world of claims and enjoys getting stuck in and finding solutions.

Her sunny disposition, strong work ethic and willingness to take on a challenge make her a pleasure to work with, both for the Caledonian Team and our clients.

Outside of work, Vera comes from a large family and loves spending time with those closest to her, enjoying gatherings with family, friends and her partner.

Alysha is the newest member of the Caledonian Team, celebrating her first year with us this March. Working across both Domestic Claims and Underwriting, she has quickly become a valued part of the team, with her excellent manner and natural ability to connect with clients.

She particularly enjoys the rhythm and flow of Underwriting, while bringing her own sense of style, energy and vibrance to the office.

Outside of work, Alysha is a proud mum to her daughter and loves spending her free time enjoying family life and all the joys of motherhood with her partner.
